Jimmy Gorecki has lent his extensive skateboarding knowledge to Hood Hats, creating a five-cap collection inspired by storied skate spots across the US. Featuring classic script and done up in a colorway reminiscent of each city’s sports franchises, the hats are a nod to nexuses of skateboarding from the East Coast to the West Coast.
Washington DC’s Pulaski, Philadelphia’s Love Park, New York’s Brooklyn Banks, San Fransisco’s Embarcadero and Los Angeles’s Lockwood all receive acknowledgement. DC’s hat is done up in a Washington Bullets-inspired red and blue, Philly’s in a retro Philadelphia Eagles mix of green and white, NY’s in a New York Yankees navy and white, SF’s in a San Fransisco Giants black and orange and LA’s in a Los Angeles Dodgers royal and white. All are constructed of 100% merino wool, and each features a classic sports-style fit. Each is also modeled by a pioneer of skate who came up at the spot it represents: Reese Forbes proudly sports the Pulaski hat, while Rick Oyola reps Love Park.
For Gorecki — a former member of Pharrell‘s ICECREAM skate team and the current head of Standard Issue Tees and JSP — the collection is all about homage, as he states “We made it a point to honor the vets in skateboarding that brought life to each of these spots.”
The Jimmy Gorecki x Hood Hats Skate Spot collection is available for pre-order at the Hood Hats webstore until July 12. Each hat retails for $50 USD, and will ship in 4-6 weeks. For more skateboarding-related news, check out HYPEBEAST‘s exclusive interview with Copson founder Maria Falbo.
